  first of all, i've been reading this forum for many months and have found it such a nice place!

  a little history - my husband and i were both raised as jws, and both left about 11 years ago.

  we were initially inactive for quite a few years, but we still believed all the bs.

  It is fine to let her know that you do not care to be spammed with JW crap and that you'd prefer a personal email over the canned Jw spam. Other than that, I have no real advice. I can tell you about my experience, though. I too have a love-hate relationship with my mom (and with my sibs and with my dad). Their nasty behaviour and attitudes make it that kind of a relationship; so, I just stay the hell away. And I don't care for them to spend much time with my child, either, any more. They disrespect my wishes and cannot stop obsessing about Jehobo and preaching . . . enough of that for us. Hope you are happy with the family you have! I know it sounds kinda' mean, but you might consider it a blessing that she's going so far away . . . I would!

  Im so angry right now

  well as you all know its official im no longer a jw.

  when my father spoke to me he said other than emergencies he could have no contact with me, thats fine im cool with that.

  but i just got a phone call from hubby from my dad who is apparently holidaying in new zealand, to let me know that my great uncle passed away last night.

  Grace, So sorry to hear that your daughter is lost in that religion and now won't speak with you. That cult does terrible things to peoples' minds. Maybe someday she'll get out. so sad that she's stuck in that . . . truly sorry - for you both.

  That no one else will ever love you the way your JW family loves you.

  What a HUGE LIE that is. I get more love, compassion and day-to-day concern from the gas station attendants around the corner than I do from my own JW parents, siblings and aunts uncles and cousins put together.

  I have also had far more moral and emotional support and TOTALLY UNCONDITIONAL love from my NON-Witness relatives than I ever got from the JWs, even when I was active (as a kid).

  If nothing else shows what a cult it is, then how they treat their non-witness family members is certainly a clue.
